Gracie Day is 2017’s “Best New Act” according to the New England Music Awards, an organization that acknowledges musical artists across all six states. Based in Hartford, and recently named “Best Folk Band” in CTNow’s Best of Hartford Reader’s Poll for 2017,  Gracie Day is gaining a reputation for her authentic performances and heartfelt storytelling which is highlighted by melodic sensibility and dynamic sound.

The genre “Folk”, though a large influence on Day’s lyric writing, doesn’t quite describe the mixture of rock, soul and country her band has. Her debut E.P released in November 2017, and another record is anticipated for 2018.

Gracie will be performing at the Packing House with her talented guitar player, Lee Sylvestre who adds beautiful musical dynamics and harmonies.

LEXI WEEGE

ACOUSTIC ARTIST SERIES: BLUES / JAZZ

TICKETS $12.00 IN ADVANCE (ONLINE) / $15.00 AT THE DOOR

The female performing artist has long been objectified, controlled, censored, restrained. This is what Lexi Weege refuses to be. Her music is passionate, alive, awakened; the narrative of a woman unashamed of her desires and unafraid to seize control. Weege conjures up decadent scenes of the roaring twenties with her stellar voice and jazz-influenced compositions.

Constantly touring, performing, and creating, Lexi Weege has released a full-length album [Virgin, 2013] and more recently, "Sweet Moon", a '7 record, both recorded live to tape. Weege's insistence on analogue recording is evidence of her passion for authenticity in her music. "With the confidence to throw her all into the circus ring of theatricality, Lexi Weege stamps the mark of a true performer. (Bluesbunny.com)"

Join us for an evening of Lexi's unique bluesy vocals in our intimate historic setting. This concert is a part of The Packing House Acoustic Artist Series hosted by the Friends of The Mill Works. Dan Stevens, protege of Dave Van Ronk, and Clayton Allen are winners of the CT Blues Challenge Competition and represented the state in the International Blues Challenge on Beale St. in Memphis TN, advancing to the semi-finals .

In a melding of diverse blues styles,  Dan and Clayton have forged a unique sound, representing a wide variety of traditionally based fingerpicking with a tinge of primitive blues and early blues rock and roll.  Clayton’s raw energy and emotional delivery contrast with Dan’s soulful approach creating a dynamic mix. A dose of Diddly Bow and Cigar Box guitar backed with a driving rhythm and gospel influenced vocals convey an engaging rock bottom authenticity.  Be prepared for an occasional twist as the duo adds spice with an addition of popular classics as well as some chestnuts from their deep well of roots country music [http://ramblindan.weebly.com].
