EC-CHAP Film Series: “Stevie Ray Vaughan and Friends”
SUGGESTED DONATION $5.00
SPECIAL NOTE: We are pleased to collaborate with colleague and EC-CHAP Volunteer Arthur Rovozzo to develop this multi-part film series featuring contemporary rock, blues and the “British Invasion”. Arthur Rovozzo is DJ for the weekly radio program “Musical Myriad” on WECS, 90.1fm.
This film project is the brainchild of “Musical Myriad” host Arthur Rovozzo, WECS Radio, 90.1FM.
Arthur’s extensive musical knowledge and passion for historical roots has led to the development of this unique 5-part series.
As Arthur describes:
“For our music movie event scheduled on March 1, we are presenting film segments featuring the man who was considered a successor to Jimmy Hendrix and air to the throne - Stevie Ray Vaughan in the rise of Texas blues man. We are planning to view a portion of a TV show where Stevie jammed with one of his heroes , blues guitarist Albert King. Then we get chances to witness Vaughn with his own band and with other guest players sitting in, including another of Stevie 's heroes, the guitar hotshot Lonnie Mack. The last part of our presentation will be Vaughn playing a string of his favorite tunes during a concert recorded in the state of Georgia. Anyway you slice it - it's gonna be a rockin’, blues guitar mania!"
We have compiled and will screen a selection of unique and relevant historic music related films from February thru May. This series is intended to share the journey and evolution of contemporary rock and blues from the sixties forward.
Join us for the screening of Part-2 of this musical journey. This project is a part of the EC-CHAP Film Series hosted by the Eastern Connecticut Center for History, Art, and Performance (EC-CHAP), a 501.3.c non-profit membership-based cultural organization.
