SPECIAL NOTE: We are pleased to collaborate with colleague and EC-CHAP Volunteer Arthur Rovozzo to develop this multi-part film series featuring contemporary rock, blues and the “British Invasion”. Arthur Rovozzo is DJ for the weekly radio program “Musical Myriad” on WECS, 90.1fm.
Arthur Rovozzo
This film project is the brainchild of “Musical Myriad” host Arthur Rovozzo, WECS Radio, 90.1FM.
Arthur’s extensive musical knowledge and passion for historical roots has led to the development of this unique 5-part series.
As Arthur describes:
“It is a conveniently overlooked fact that when Creedence Clearwater Revival, (CCR), made their first albums, they achieved, rather quickly, such an impact that the group began to challenge The Beatles on radio and in record store sales. It's true and was not promotional hype: CCR cranked out such fine albums and a string of instantly uber-classic singles in the late '60's / early 70's that they began to surpass The Beatles in numbers of discs sold.
The CCR sound was widely embraced as "Quintessentially American" in a market frequently lorded over by British Artists. Listeners were sure that the group was from Louisiana with their tune subject matter and swampy-rockabilly-flavored style, but they actually hailed from California.
The movie night we are planning will feature selections from portions of a British Isles Creedence Concert, (courtesy of a film collector), and a semi-documentary/semi-music TV program celebrating CCR's return home after the tour .Part two will net provide an update of the Creedence story with music of recent date by group founder/vocalist/guitarist John C. Fogerty. Plenty of the hits will be aired!"
Join us for our first film screening of the 2025-2026 Season with A Bob Marley Retrospective!
