CALENDULA is a singer-songwriter based in New England. Her work is inspired by personal experiences and ethos; and musical choices are typical folk, with instrumentation consisting of acoustic guitar, vocals, and banjo. Calendula has an interest in the history of folk music as it pertains to societal change and action for the betterment of communities, especially working class communities.
She began writing as Calendula in 2019, and released her first EP in 2020. Her newest single is called "No Going Back" and it is a commentary on the state of the world, inspired by the protest music of the 20th century, particularly Buffy Sainte-Marie and Phil Ochs.
Her nostalgia for past homes, daydreamed futures, and distant loved-ones fuels her folk inspired melodies. Her upcoming album, Loveletter, focuses on social class and climate justice in hopes of inspiring positive change in her community.
