EC-CHAP Presents: Your Drum Circle with Bob Bloom (3rd Tuesday of the month - January - May)
$10.00 AT THE DOOR
At this hoot, first-time drummers and those with seasoning drumrollick together. From 2007 to 2010, Bob Bloom was chair of the Interactive Drumming Committee of The Percussive Arts Society, the largest percussion organization in the world.
For nearly two decades, he served as a faculty assistant to Dr. Babatunde Olatunji for his “Language of the Drums” courses at The Omega Institute, Rowe Conference Center, and Kripalu Institute for Yoga and Health.
BB drummed and sang as a performance member of Olatunji’s internationally-renowned African music and dance company, “Drums of Passion” in concerts at venues including Lincoln Center, The Washington Monument, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Jorgenson Hall.
Through Olatunji’s music philosophy, “Unity of Purpose”, you'll float wherever your thoughts take you rhythmic-ally, melodic-ally, harmonic-ally, beat-ally, lyric-ally, and movement-ally.
Bring your favorite hand drums. You’re drumless? No problem. Your heart and hands can enjoy the djembes, doumbeks, tubanos, and bongos from the colorful cargo that BB is trucking to the shindigs.
Join us for this unique monthly drum circle experience. This program is hosted by the "Eastern Connecticut Center for History, Art, and Performance" (EC-CHAP). Doors 7:00pm / Show 7:30pm. "BYOB&F" - Bring Your Own Beverage & Food (Wine & Beer Only - I.D. Required).
