TICKETS $8.00 IN ADVANCE (ONLINE) / $10.00 AT THE DOOR
EC-CHAP is proud to provide opportunities for local artists to share their unique work and talent. Our winter season at The Packing House includes a new "Special Local Artist Performance Program". Specific performances that comprise this Program typically evolve from our Talent Showcase series (the 2nd Wednesday of the month) and will be added to our regular performance schedule. This inaugural show, rescheduled from September, features musician and poet Edmund Smith.
The following according to Ed:
Ed Smith aka Fast Daddy Ed is a Brooklyn-born singer songwriter whose repertoire ranges from conventional song forms to experimental and theatrical soundscapes a la Frank Zappa and John Cage.
Ed began his musical meanderings in his basement home in Brooklyn, where he helped
assemble a ragtag band of adolescents known as the Pig Sisters. The song, 'It's Time to Revolt' was among their several excursions to fall asleep in the basement that summer. After that, Ed took to classical guitar and also began building cacophonous percussion instruments, mainly out of plumbing materials, which later came to be known as cancaphones. These instruments are featured in many of Ed's shows to this day.
Aside from the first juvenile attempt at ensemble work, Ed has been in such groups as Brain Taste, Horseshoe Crab, Target Cactus, Menage a Twang, the Milledge People, and now the Presuminati.
Besides working in several musical genres, Smith as published in local publications in Seattle, Miami, Boston, Athens, and Northeast Connecticut. He at one time wrote poetry under the pseudonym 'Noam Poemsky' for a zine called Seditious Delicious. Presently, he has 2 books on Amazon, ' Lastly, I Wish to Mention' and Voluminous Rex. He has helped found the Think and Do Philosophy Club , which is enjoying its 3rd year. His articles appear monthly in Neighbors magazine. He has a personal life, but it's personal.
Ed will be joined by his band Presuminati as well as two members of the Drone Orchestra.
