Acoustic Artist Series: Eric Lee with Amy Soucy (Folk / Bluegrass)
TICKETS $12.00 IN ADVANCE (ONLINE) / $15.00 AT THE DOOR
A masterful and engaging fiddler, Eric Lee has performed in a variety of situations, from conducting and playing in the pit orchestras of musicals and raising the roofs of roadhouses, honkey-tonks, and music halls with bluegrass bands, to recording and performing with folk songwriters, heavy metal bands.
At 18, Eric joined Pete and Maura Kennedy's psychedellic folk-rock band, The Strangelings, at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, where he still performs as a member of the festival's House Band, and has since accompanied several of his musical heroes, including John Gorka, Dan Navarro, and Peter Rowan, among others. It is these artists, along with the revered late songwriter Dave Carter, that inspire his own uniquely poetic and expressive songwriting.
The music of Eric Lee is a chimera of genres and influences; an ever-evolving world of sonic exploration with stand-alone melodies always at it's core. His new EP traverses a range of emotion, from the unbridled joy of love in "Miles Above the Ground" to the wrenching pain of Eros in "To Write you a Song"; the unflattering honesty of coping with loss ("Life Without You") to the cosmic petition to the ancient powers in "Hands of Fortune" (http://eric-lee-music.com/). Eric will be joined by singer-songwriter Amy Soucy.
Amy Soucy is a Beacon, NY-based contemporary folk chanteuse who writes evocative songs exploring the kaleidoscope of human experience (dreams, longing, forgiveness and healing) and sings them in a voice that’s been called “powerful,” “comforting,” and “angelic.” Dubbed “enchanting” by singersongwriter Sloan Wainwright and “just gorgeous” by NJ folk radio DJ Joe Pszonek.
Soucy’s 2015 debut album, This River, takes listeners on a soulful journey through a lush landscape of life, love and earth – full of timeless, poetic songwriting, soaring melodies and shimmering harmonies. The CD was among the top folk albums of 2015 on both the Folk DJ Listserv and the Roots Music Report. Since it's release, Amy was selected for a coveted spot in the Emerging Artist Showcase at the 2016 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, and took home first prize in the 2016 CT Folk Songwriting Competition.
