Bring your favorite hand drum (djembe, bongos, bodhran, timbau, conga, ...) to play at this funk, folk, and boogie shindig. You'll take a drum ride with Bob Bloom as he drives melodic rhythms to legendary songs by The Beatles, Olatunji, James Brown, Chuck Berry, The Grateful Dead, Buddy Holly, and more.
Don't have a hand drum? No problem. You'll get your hands around one from the colorful cargo that BB is trucking to The Packing House. Newbie and seasoned drummers rollick together!
Join us for an evening of rhythm and fun! This interactive concert is a part of The Packing House Acoustic Artist Series hosted by the Friends of The Mill Works. Snacks and soft drinks available. "BYOB" - Beer and Wine ONLY (I.D. Required).

About the Artist...
Bob Bloom's audience-participation drumming hoots have sparkled at The New England Folk Festival; Gathering of the Vibes; Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts; First Night Celebrations of Boston, Hartford, Westport and Worcester; Mark Twain Museum; New Haven International Festival of Arts and Ideas; and OpSail New London.
For seventeen years, Bob served as a faculty assistant to Dr. Babatunde Olatunji for his "Language of the Drums" courses at the Omega Institute. He performed on the djun-djun drum as a member of Olatunji's internationally renowned troupe "Drums of Passion" at venues including Lincoln Center, The Washington Monument, Jorgenson Hall, and The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
From 2007 to 2010, Bob was the chair of the Interactive Drumming Committee of The Percussive Arts Society, the largest percussion organization in the world. In 1997, he received certification as a "Master Teaching Artist" by The Connecticut Office of the Arts.
